playroom is a product design outfit started by myself and two colleagues in late 2023. Originally named "Couldnt Chair Less", the project started out as a blog around interiors, and has evolved to produce small, beautifully designed household items, with an aim to produce larger more complex goods in the future as the project grows.

playroom as a name came about through our collective desire to make objects that are not only beautiful, but that evoke a sense of joy in their use, as well as a sense of joy in the process of creating them. The name is intentionally all lowercase to make the words appear softer, and to evoke an almost child like wonder in the tone of the brand.

playroom is tonally tongue in cheek, visually striking, and tactile, graphics often evoking the objects we create, advertisements are designed to be subtly humorous in nature, yet all this is carried with a precision and confidence of a high end design practice.

The first product to be put into production is an incense burner, an oblong, curved resin dish that sports a vertical intrusion for the burning incense, as well as a subtle channel along the base for a second stick to be stored horizontally.
